Our software architecture is comprised of building blocks that can be mixed and matched to suit the configuration of the restaurant. This modular approach is based on EMN8®'s assessment of the various environmental store configurations into which our systems integrate. As a result, EMN8® creates:

  • Architecture for achieving scale with standard core software and support for multiple point-of-sale systems, versions of specific point-of-sale systems, electronic payment providers, and hardware platforms and devices
  • Highly reliable software applications that are easy to use, configure and install; simple for restaurant guests and staff and maintained mostly in an automated manner
  • Software applications that support highly-flexible menu flows and designs, and rich media that delivers a custom-designed menu with the brand’s look and feel
  • Retail hardened, highly available technology

EMN8®'s architecture supports a number of integration points, with interchangeable adapters that connect the Transaction State Manager to the point-of-sale system, electronic payment network and various hardware components.

The sophisticated Transaction State Manager manages the guest interaction in two major areas: the menu selection process, and the remittance process. It also drives the powerful Real Time Rendering Engine. The Transaction State Manager and its supporting modules are written in Java to take advantage of the availability of development capabilities, allow the use of powerful open-source development and test tools, and draw on open-source codes for generic software functionality.

The Real Time Rendering Engine creates and manages a guest experience that is compatible with and complementary to a brand’s identity. The guest user interface is created and rendered in 3-D, interacting with guests as they make their selections. The Real Time Rendering Engine is written in C++ to provide maximum performance and take full advantage of the Direct-X support on the most advanced video cards, as well as allow for graceful degradation to lower end platforms in order to support a wide range of hardware.

The Menu Editor, written in Java, allows staff to quickly configure product and menu data in a hierarchical fashion, integrate incomparable brand elements and visual experiences, and support highly-tailored screen layouts that can be configured on-the-fly. It supports numerous menu paths that may be directed by either the individual guest or pre-determined rules.

The proprietary point-of-sale gateway tool set gives EMN8® the ability to integrate with virtually any existing or installed POS platform in a seamless manner. Our self-service solution currently integrates with 12 of the leading POS software systems used by quick service and fast casual restaurants.
